At the weekend hubby and I spent the time getting the decorations ready for Christmas. I like to have it done early so you have it longer to look at. I am sure some of you can’t agree more with me on that.
Especially when it is a hassle every year to get the decorations down from the attic. This was hubby’s job this year with me being 31 weeks pregnant. Good excuse.
Let me start off with the Christmas tree…
This had to go into the kitchen this year because I invested in a good book shelf which is taking up the corner of the Christmas tree now. But really I like the way where it is now. So cosy. Our Christmas tree is always decorated with silver and red baubles. That’s the theme every year. At the top we have white lights and at the bottom multicolored ones.We don’t put anything on the top of the tree actually. I have never even thought about it. Looks more natural without it in my opinion.
Then there’s the mantel piece…
Decorated with little Snowman and Santa figures and some lovely lights going across. Of course the stockings can’t be missing.
This lovely candle I added on the last 2 Christmases. My mum gave it to me. I love it. It is a battery operated candle. I added a few pines and some little bits onto it and 2 reindeer’s around. Cute isn’t it?
The only thing I haven’t done so far is put the lights on the tree outside and on the door. This was planned for today but we are expecting a very bad storm. It is battering down right now actually. So hopefully by the weekend I will get a chance to put those up and show them to you, too.
Have you put your decorations up yet? I’d like to see you pictures. If you have blogged about it, a link would be great, too.

Nope, we painted that wall over a year ago as the plain creme wall didn’t look homey enough. But you right it makes it look extra christmassy bring red this time of the year.

Is she pulling herself up already? Matthew was 4 months old first Xmas. So we were lucky there. last year he was 16 months and couldn’t walk yet but he was mobile on his knees. wasn’t bothered about the tree though once I told him no a few times. same as this year. Try it. You can always put it up on a table after. But it might be more dangerous. She could be pulling it down.

Aw you need to make it extra special.
I love the fact your walls are Christmas red too making the mantel piece display look even more impressive…Did you paint them specially?
We don’t usually put our decorations up until mid December, but this year they are up already and I am looking for ward to enjoying them for longer.
Can’t think of a better excuse for not getting the decorations down than being 31 weeks pregnant! Sit down, delegate chores and enjoy!

You did such an awesome job – it looks so Christmassy!! We have similar stockings – well I suppose they’re all a bit similar lol but I really like them. Good work 🙂 #MMWBH http://www.mamamim.com
Lovely. We have most of ours up but haven’t decided about a tree yet. We like to have a real one but its going to be mad with an 8 month old that pulls herself up. Maybe a small one for the table?! #MMWBH
Gorgeous! I love doing the house up at christmas! Its our last christmas in this house as we’re moving after christmas!
I LOVE your mantel piece, it’s gorgeous, so, so pretty! And your tree looks great too. I copped out and bought a tree completely made of tinsel because I don’t want to deal with the girls constantly pulling the decorations off. It’s is still very prety though and sparkles in the light so I am happy. I am yet to pull out the rest of the decorations and add anything else to the house, we’ll see how much time I have tomorrow! But I do love yours, you should come and do mine! Lol!
