It has become quite a tradition on my blog at this stage, where I write a post at the end of the year that reflects back on the year that was.
I find its lovely to look back on and sums up how each year was. I am going to break it is down into each month. So sit back and enjoy.
January
The beginning of 2018 also marked the start of potty training for Chloe. She has been very good. The hard part was number two. We still haven’t dropped the nappies at night, because half of the time she Still wakes up with a wet nappy. We will address this in the new year.
For my birthday my friend and Sandra and I ventured off to Westport for some afternoon tea in Knockranny Hotel. Its time to book a new one I think.
February
The second month of the year saw us celebrating Chloe’s third birthday. She had a Peppa Pig themed party.
For Matthew’s midterm break we went to visit the kids grandparents in Sligo and spent some time there. I also caught up with friends as this is where we moved from two years ago.
March
This month started in a lock down… literally. We were hit with the Beast from the East. A week of snow storms. Nobody could leave the house, just barely on foot. A walk to the shop was an adventure. A nice memory we made and to remember in years to come though.
April
Easter holidays in Ireland are two weeks long. A very long time to keep the kids entertained. We flew off to the UK for a few days to visit Paulton Park, the Watercress line and Legoland. The kids had an absolute ball. It is a pricey holiday I have to say though.
May
In February a few of my work mates and I decided to book a short break away in Spain. It was literally a mini holiday Friday to Monday. But I have to say it was plenty to get the tan on, go for a swim and just have a few fun days.
June
June was a pretty hot month. We had a heat wave that was going on longer than a day for once. A lot of time was spent in the garden and outside in general. We also managed to go to the beach.
July
The beginning of July Karoline and I spent her birthday in Hamburg on a long weekend break. Even though Hamburg is literally a two hour drive from my hometown, I had never been. It is a lovely city and I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting.
Something that had been on our list for quite some time, we finally managed to tick off in July. We visited the children’s museum Imaginosity.
August
Instead of going abroad somewhere, we went on holidays in Ireland and made it as cost efficient as we could. We spent a few days in County Kerry. Its such a beautiful County. I finally ticked off Dingle as well.
At the end of the month we celebrated Matthew’s sixth birthday with a Mario themed birthday party.
September
I generally fly over to my home country once a year. But I hadn’t been to my hometown in over four years. It has been on my radar for a very long time and I finally managed to tick it off and at the same time meet up with one of my old friends. The rest of the period I stayed in Berlin with Karoline.
October
During this Halloween month we attended an event in Luggwoods. The last two years we went to a pumpkin patch but I thought we would mix it up a bit for once.
December
The first weekend of December my friend Sandra and I set off to Belfast for a weekend of sightseeing. The weather wasn’t the best but we made the most out of it and actually had a great time
I can’t wait to see what the year 2019 will bring. I have a few mini trips planned. One is already booked which will be in January actually. I am heading off for a weekend away in Barcelona.
Have you made any plans for the new year yet?
You actually fitted a lot in to the year! Hopefully a few more adventures this year for you! #ShareYourYear

I think it is important to make plenty of memories within the year. I haven’t made any travel plans with the family this year. I am planning to go on a Summer vacation though as we haven’t been in 3 years.
