This December I am kind of taking part in the Blogmas Challenge. It is supposed to be a post every day. So far I failed miserably but I am doing catch up at least and don’t give up altogether. Three years ago I shared a festive recipe on my blog which is very popular at all Christmas market in Germany.
It’s something sweet but so delicious and I started making it the last two Christmases. Half of it I normally bring into work for everybody to enjoy too as you couldn’t possibly finish them all at home. They are the best when they are fresh. If you do plan to make them the night before, cover them up nicely so they don’t dry out that quickly.
What you will need:
– 500g Quark (available in any Polish shop called “Twarog”)
– 5 eggs
– 8 tbsp of sugar
– 2 pkts of vanilla sugar
– 500g flour
– 1 pkt of baking powder
– icing sugar to sprinkle over the quark balls
How to prepare:
– Stir the Quark, eggs, vanilla sugar and sugar into a cream
– Combine flour and baking powder and mix them together with the other ingredients to create a smooth dough
– Heat up your deep fat fryer
– When the oil reaches its temperature, form the balls with two table spoons and spoon them into the fryer until they are baked golden brown. Afterwards lay out a kitchen paper towel onto a plate and take them out of the fryer. This is to remove any excess oil. Tipp: Don’t add more than six to give them plenty of space to expand.
– Sprinkle with icing sugar
This will make about 40 Quard Balls. Enjoy, they are addictive just to warn you.
These look interesting. I’ve not heard of Quark before.
