Our Christmas 2018

I think it’s fair to say that we are all back into the routine the last two days. I have been back to work since Monday. It is a bit depressing alright after having over a week off but money has to be made, that’s just the way life goes. I thought I would share with you how our Christmas went as I haven’t really shared any photos on Instagram yet.

Thankfully this Christmas I was off on Christmas Eve. That meant we could really get into the Christmas spirit from the weekend onwards. The weather wasn’t the best over the Christmas before but whenever it was, we made the best out of to go for a walk. Matthew needs routine and can’t be stuck in the house 24/7. So Christmas Eve the kids and I went on a morning walk, while hubby waited for his brother to arrive. He wanted to drop off a present for the kids.

The rest of the day was spent in front of the fire watching a movie. We watched a quite substantial amount of movies over the Christmas period. But that’s what the holidays are for. Before bedtime, we put out the mat for Santa including his milk, the reindeer magic food, their carrot and Santa’s cookie. Both kids had a bath that evening so they are squeaky clean for the morning ready to run downstairs and open their presents.

Over the holiday we were a bit lazy and never went downstairs before 9am. It was not much different on Christmas Day. The kids were so excited to open the door and see if Santa has been and  most importantly what he brought. Before opening all the presents, they had to investigate, if Santa ate his cookie and drank his milk.

It was time to get stuck into opening the presents. The kids were delighted with all presents. Santa spoilt them as always. Matthew and Chloe also received a few presents from mummy and daddy. I think Chloe’s favourite present has to be her new doll Baby Born and the new doll pram. She is using it on a daily basis. She also loves her baby bed which she received from one of my relatives in Germany.

Most of the day then was spent playing with the new toys. While I spent the afternoon in the kitchen making the Christmas dinner. Normally we would have dinner in the evening time but this time I thought I would change things around and have it early enough. It gave us more time family quality time in the evening and we could have some snacks instead. As I predicted, Chloe was not a big fan of the dinner, so I made her different stuff so she could pick. Matthew was really good with his dinner. He even gave Brussels Sprouts a go but didn’t like it in the end.

For dessert we had a lovely chocolate Yule log from Tesco. It was so nice, I bought it a second time a few days later. I mean, who doesn’t like chocolate right?

St. Stephen’s Day we went for a walk and brought the new toys with us Chloe tried out her new pram with her doll in. Matthew took his new Porsche remote control car for a spin which he received off my relations in Germany. It’s so fast that he kept crashing into the walls in the house. I figured, it would be best to try it outside.

The rest of the year we pretty  much relaxed and one day we called over to the cousins. Matthew had a ball with them and showed them the new Nintendo Switch Games he got. Chloe wasn’t too keen the first two hours to play because they got a little puppy. Let’s just say Chloe is not the biggest dog fan.

New Year’s Eve we ended up in bed early enough but I was woken by the fireworks. This is the life of being a parent. When the kids are older, I am sure we will have plenty of years to stay up with them until midnight. The coming weekend will be the weekend we will be taking down all the decorations.

How did your Christmas go?
