The next morning I woke up quite early. I am just so used to it with the kids being around every day and Matthew waking up at 6.30am every morning. However I did try falling back asleep but 7.30am was the end then.
The other two got up then as well. After all we are all mums and are used to early wake up calls, even though we had very little sleep. We decided to have a shower after we had our breakfast. We started breakfast at 9am before heading back up to our room and have a shower. Once we were all washed and dressed, we walked to the train station to head into town. Katrina was flying back to Liverpool that day. She was meant to meet another friend but everything got a bit delayed.
Instead we met up with an old friend from Sweden in Nandos for lunch. She was over for the concert too with her husband and her baby. They went to the show on Friday while her mum minded the baby. He was such a cutie so well behaved. The weather wasn’t the best at first but thankfully it improved later on. We said goodbye to Emelie and walked Katrina to the air coach to get her back to the airport on time.
Sabrina wanted to buy a few souvenir for her boyfriend and son in Carrolls and take a few photos around Dublin. We then walked back to Connolly station to get the train back to our hotel and get ready for the concert. Our plan was to be in the stadium by around 6pm. I think we were there a bit earlier. The entrance was the same side as the day before. I met the funny security guy who entertained us all the day before. He said to enjoy the show once again. Our bags were searched, the tickets were scanned. After a trip to the bathroom and grabbing a drink, we headed to our seats. We actually had a pretty good view.
We listened to the band Wild Youth. In the mean time another old school friend arrived that Sabrina and I know. She was a block beside us. We managed to have a quick chat and a reunion photo was taken, too. One more quick trip to the toilet and it was time to get ready for Westlife. They were actually pretty late this time. Bear in mind that this show was recorded live and available to everyone in selected cinemas.
Just before 9pm the lights went out and it was time. Cameras were all around the stadium. Again they began the show with “Hello My Love”. The confetti even reached everyone further down the back so we were covered again. I have so much confetti in my VIP bag and handbag. For this show I decided to just enjoy the show and don’t take any photos or videos. The only thing I wanted to take and have been looking forward to, was the rainbow confetti shooting out at the start.
Though it didn’t stop right there. I just can’t go to a Westlife concert without taking any videos or photos. So I ended up going live a few times on Instagram and Facebook. People were amused by our beautiful singing but it was all just a bit of fun. Katrina wanted me to go live during the new single “Dynamite” which I did. I have to admit it is such a good song, even better live. I’d nearly say it’s better than “Hello My Love”.
Continuing on they sang “My Love” and everyone put their hands up like Shane asked and waved to the rhythm of the song.
The second Croke Park gig was a bit more special this time. Mark had announced at each show that he is going to become a father later this year. But this time he revealed the gender… he is going to be a dad to a little girl which is just amazing. Everyone was cheering for him.
Again the crowd really started to warm up when they performed the Queen Medley. It is even better in a stadium of that size.
During Nicky’s speech where he mentioned all the different flags around the world, he got everyone to sing Ole Ole. This was something I am sure the lads loved doing. As Nicky said “It is 1999 all over again”.
When Kian said his goodbye speech before singing “You Raise Me Up”, there were just two more songs left… “Flying Without Wings” and “World of Our Own”. It ended with fireworks and that was also the end of the Twenty Tour in the UK and Ireland. They are starting to tour Asia now at the end of July for a month and it is not long then until the album comes out.
After the concert I met up with Clare and her husband before they flew back home in the morning. We did plan on having a drink but we were all exhausted. Instead we walked into town and had a cheeky Burger King. Sabrina and I took a taxi back to the hotel and had one drink in the hotel bar before going to bed. In the morning we enjoyed our last breakfast together and I dropped her off to the airport after our check out.
I definitely had a ball at the weekend, probably one of the best ones I had a in a long time. It was so nice to meet people I haven’t seen in a such a long time. We are going on a family holiday in Germany this Summer and so I am going to see Sabrina again and will also finally meet her son.
