Last week I did something I wanted to try out for a long time. I was a bit skeptical at first but I have seen other people, including friends, getting it done before. And that is having my teeth whitened. There are so many different procedures available these days.
I was contacted by the White House a good while ago. The White House have many different clinics across Ireland and the UK. The clinics available in Ireland are Dundrum, Swords, Galway and Belfast. Dundrum and Swords would be nearly the same distance from me. However I had to book with Swords because they were the only clinic that had a slot free on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are my only days off during the week.
Making a booking is very simple. I logged onto The White House website and was able to make an appointment through their online booking system. You can jump to your preferred date and check what times are available. The clinics are generally very busy so make sure you book on time as the slots can be gone pretty quickly.
When I arrived at the clinic in Swords on Tuesday morning, I was greeted by the lovely Natasha. She welcomed me into the treatment room where she explained to me how the whole procedure works. She asked me a few general questions and informed me to not have any dark foods for the next 24 hours. This includes tea and coffee. So it is literally anything that would easily stain your teeth.
The treatment takes 45 minutes. It is divided into three sessions. I had to wear a sort of mouth guard to make the teeth visible. Natasha then applied the first set of gel onto the teeth. For the next 15 minutes I had to sit under a laser machine which whitens the teeth. This procedure is going to be repeated again two times after the first session and that’s it. Super easy.
The result depends on your teeth really. You will get at least the 5 shades whiter but it can be up to 10 shades whiter. There is definitely no long-term impact on your gums or teeth. This has been clinically tested. Your teeth will stay white for 1 to 3 years. This all depends on your hygiene routine, as well as foods you consume. I am not a wine person so I am definitely winning on that aspect anyway. I do attend my dentist for hygiene appointments on a regular basis. Purchasing a good whitening tooth paste will also extend the result.
My front teeth have always been quite white but the side ones were always the ones that annoyed me a bit. I am definitely seeing an improvement and I am very happy with the result.
The advanced teeth whitening treatment is currently available for €99 (normally €195). The Swords clinic is located on the main street just opposite Penneys.
