My Interior Trends 2019 #FatherTedReimagined

Interior design has come a long way in the last few years. It is changing constantly and to date it has become a bit more bold in places. Just heads up, I am no interior expert and I simply like designing our house the way I want it. Of course I read the trends every now and again and sneak in one or two things that are hot at the moment.

I am that type of person who has one project going and another one already in the head. We recently updated the curtains in the living room to longer ones because it just feels cozier. You know those ones you would find in your hotel room. My next project is going to be the utility room. My go to source to get some inspiration is generally Pinterest. Laundry wise I just don’t have a system in place at all and the laundry ends up everywhere. It would be nice to keep it all in the utility room.

Chill.ie put together a post reflecting on the living room featured in father ted over twenty years ago. All my Irish followers will probably remember this sitcom. For anyone who don’t know what it is… It’s literally a programme playing on a fictional island called Craggy Island with three priests living together with their housekeeper. Not being from Ireland myself, I only managed to get a glimpse at one or two episodes in the past.

Bold and bright

For me the Bohemian style would feature in our kitchen. I decided to go with a bold and bright colour for the kitchen. So the main feature of the kitchen are the yellow bar stools located under the island The kitchen we picked out over two years ago is a blueish/greyish colour with a marble table top. I think it goes really well considering our walls are grey and so are the floors. It needed a bit of a bold and bright colour in the room. I still want to update our bread bin from a black to a yellow.

Plants everywhere

I call our living room the green room. We have a green plant theme going on in that room. I am not the best at keeping plants alive I have to admit, so for now we only have one plant in the corner. However recently I updated the wall above our sofa. To feature more plants, I bought four prints to get more colour into the room. It also makes the room look a bit more homier rather than having a big empty wall. I find plants in general, whether they are artificial or real, is a big thing this year. I am a big fan of artificial plants myself.

What would be your trend? Do you follow the trends or do you go by your own taste?
