For this year I have set myself a blogging goal. I want to attend as many blogging events as possible. Now I know working full time this is generally only possible at weekends or I have to take a day off which I don’t mind. But there are two major blog events on my list that I definitely wanted to attend. One is Britmums (I still haven’t got a ticket for it) and the other is Blog On. Speaking to the blogger community the Blog On Conference seems to be the event of the year. It must be really good in fairness because it’s on again in September. I attended Blogfest in London last year. This was my first ever event abroad. It was good but I don’t think I would go again.
Laura, one of the organizers from Blog On has created a linky to join in for all bloggers who go to Blog On the end of May. The purpose of this is to get to know the blogger behind the blog before showing up on the door step. I thought that’s a great idea and definitely wanted to join.
- Describe yourself in three words
Friendly, organized, impatient
- How long have you been blogging and what made you start?
I have been blogging over three years. I started this blog off on the free WordPress platform and wrote it for myself to keep a diary of what we are doing every day. I didn’t even intend to go public with it. Then I came across an Australian blogger called FatMumSlim. She is the one that initially made me change my mind and start writing a proper blog hoping to help others with my advice and my experience through parenting as I go along.
- What was the inspiration behind your blog name?
When it wasn’t public, it was called Janine’s Life. A bit boring really. As it focuses pretty much on my whole life and not just around parenting, I thought Janine’s Little World would hit the nail on the head.
- What is the best thing to come from your blog so far?
Obviously I love my readers that come back every day to read my updates but I also love the community of bloggers and the people I met through my blog. I remember them days when I used to follow a boyband and I met all my friends through that who I am still friends now. This is pretty much the same thing, just another “obsession”.
- Your most remembered thing from your childhood
It’s hard to know. I really enjoyed my childhood and I love looking back on it. I spent a huge amount of time with my grandparents and mum. They were so good to me. I was the only child so you may say I was spoilt a little. Only yesterday I published a post about my childhood. It’s a tag actually so you can read all about it in there.
- Something interesting you might not know about me is . . .
I worked as an Au Pair in Ireland for two years over ten years ago before I decided I want to live in this country and not return to Germany.
- Which social media platform best describes your personality and why?
Even though I don’t use it as much for my blog, probably Pinterest. I have everything organised into categories and projects I am working on or want to work in future.
- What is your happy song?
That is hard. Right now I am only listening to the radio when driving to and from work. So I am going to pick a random one. I gotta feeling by Black Eyes Peas.
- What is your favourite alcoholic drink
It’s probably the German in me but I would say beer. I do drink wine as well if it’s on offer (only white) but I prefer beer.
- What is your favourite cake?
That is so hard. My granny used to bake amazing cakes. Probably chocolate biscuit cake or baked cheesecake.
- What is your favourite takeaway dish?
We used to get takeaway every Friday but some reason we stopped. I do like getting Taco Fries from Abrakebabra.
- Where is your dream holiday destination and why?
Anywhere hot to be honest. Hawaii, Florida, Dominican Republic, Dubai.. I take any of those. I am a person who likes the sun and lie around all day, sunbathing, going swimming. The problem is, my hubby is the complete opposite. He hates the heat. Typical Irish person.
- What would your superhero name be?
Hulk, lifting heavy children, doing DIY jobs around the house, you name it.
- If you had a magical power, would you want to have and why?
Travel back in time to see my mum and grandparents once again.
- What one weapon would help you survive a zombie apocalypse?
Big laser pointer. Most random thing that came into my mind.
- If you could send something into space, what would it be?
If I’d send something into space, it would be something I can’t stand, something that I don’t like. But you know the saying when you are not happy about something and you say “I’ll send you to the moon”.
- What would you have on your gravestone?
The question is, do I want to have a gravestone? All my family members names were added onto a massive gravestone and that was it. I don’t think I’d want it any different.
- You make headline news around the world in 2 years time… but for what reason?
Most items bought online in a day.
- If an EMP wiped out all mechanical forms of transport, how would you get to BlogOn?
Row over in a boat, then travel the rest by bike or horse.
Phew, that’s that over. Some questions were really hard I have to admit. I hope to see you all there at the end of May and maybe we get to have a chat.
Loved reading this. Love Black Eyed Peas too. Have several of their albums. Look forward to seeing you on Sunday

cant wait to catch up again! see you soon!!
That’s really interesting about your family gravestone!! As for cake, I spent 3 months working in Germany and remember many afternoons spent having Kaffee und Kuchen haha so many wonderful cakes to choose from, no wonder you found it hard 🙂

You’ll have to go with a newborn then 🙂 xx
I quite like the idea of the big laser pointer, I think you are also using wit to outsmart them. They’d be captivated by it and you could escape 😀
Looking forward to meeting you, thank you for taking part on the linky! Jenny – commenting on behalf of myself and BlogOnUK.
I’ve never been to a blogging event but would love to. Have a great time!
I’ve never been to Blog On but I’ve heard good things! You’ll have the best time and learn lots I’m sure 🙂 x
Great post! I haven’t been to any blog events but they always look so fun and really help you feel part of the blogging community I’m sure.
See you there! I’ll look out for you – BlogOn is great – Much better than BritMums if I’m really honest.
That’s so lovely that you are going to a blog event. You have made me think that I should get a ticket too xx
Great to hear more about you…not sure if I’d find many blogging events out here in Sweden!
