It is well over two years now since we moved into our new home. The majority of things were done in no time but decorating each room only gradually happened. When you work full-time and have kids to mind the other times, it is hard to find the time to do this in a big chunk.
Most of the rooms in the house are to our satisfaction now. As they say “A house is never finished“. That couldn’t be more true. As once I have finished one project, I am looking what my next project could be. The living room is a room it took me a while to find the right colour scheme for. Most of our furniture in there is dark brown. So it definitely needed a colour to brighten it all up a bit. I went for a kind of teal tone. Cushions were bought, curtains were bought, little trinkets were added.
The one thing that had been bugging me for ages though was the big empty wall space above the couch. For the time being we hung two canvas we previously had in the other house. However it didn’t go with the style at all and the canvas were just way too small. So I did some research online to see how we can brighten up at all and stumbled across a gallery wall. A gallery wall is so popular these days and I always wanted to have one.
I went for a browse on my favourite art pictures website Desenio. I purchased many different prints there before for Chloe’s room, Matthew’s room as well as the kitchen. There is just so much variety, you will always find something. It took me a good while to decide what colour scheme and pattern I want to go for.
We have one plant in the corner (still alive believe it or not) so I figured it would be nice to add some more plants on the wall.
I am absolutely delighted with the end result. First of, all prints were supposed to be in a line. Though as I had to cover the nails from the previous canvas, I thought it might be nice to have it on different levels. I am glad I did it like that because the wall looks just fuller. I am no expert at placing the prints on the wall a certain way but I placed them whichever way I thought it looked nice.
As well as plants, I also wanted to have a quote or saying. I chose the You Need Love Poster. I picked two different sizes for my prints. This one in particular is 30x40cm. Right beside it I added a 50x70cm Bismarck Palm No1 Poster. I love the way it has the same colours as the cushions. With the writing “All you need is love” in black and the background white, I wanted to stick with the same sort of print beside the palm poster. So I chose Dandelion No2 Poster in the same size as the palm tree poster. Last but not least, another type of palm tree. This time the Green Palm Tree Poster, size 30x40cm. I was kind of humming what colour frame I should go for. Black could have gone one way or the other so I went for a white frame.
With the help of hubby, we managed to stick them all onto the wall. When I say stick, I actually mean I used command strips. They are the way forward without putting any holes into your wall. We use them all around the house and so far we haven’t had any issues and it all holds up nicely.
Desenio kindly decided to give you guys a little gift if you are thinking of adding your own gallery wall in your home. “The code “JANINELITTLEWORLD” gives 25% off prints* on all of our sites between February 12th and 14th. *Except for frames and handpicked-/collaboration/personalised prints”.

Love the prints! I’m trying to achieve something similar in my living room
