I’ll be honest with you, I would be lost without my car. I am just so used to stepping into my car and driving me places, even if it’s only around the corner to the shop to get milk. Owning a car kind of makes me lazy in a way too and so I don’t walk as much.
Depending on how often you use your car, it is very important to maintain it to get a long time out of it. I had very bad luck with my car in the last few months where I had to get a few things replaced. It costed me a little fortune but it needed to be done in order to be able to drive my car safe on the road again. To keep the cost low on your car, there are a few factors you have to take into account.
Check your tyres frequently
Even though I have been driving for over thirteen years, checking the tyre pressure of my car is something I have never gotten into. I normally get hubby to check it for me every few weeks. This is probably the reason why I had to have my tyres replaced nearly every year because I don’t check them every month or so. Of course it also depends on your driving style and the car you have. For example, my car is very heavy and it would be necessary for me to get the more expensive tyres as the cheapest would wear quite quickly.
TyrePlus is one of many websites in the UK that will give you the price of different types of tyres such as all season which are the ones I would normally go for.
Don’t let you car run on its last drop of fuel
When I started driving and the tank still has a quarter of it left, I’d be panicking and top it up so I don’t run out. Though nowadays when my display tells me I am running low on fuel, only then I would drive to the nearest petrol station fuel up. However you should never leave it to its lowest. It’s simply not good for your engine. Replacing the engine of a car could cost you a fortune.
Get your car serviced every year
It is also very important to bring your car for service in your local garage every year. Sometimes you get lucky and they have a special offer running to get your car serviced for a little less than usual. They will check things like battery, oil, tyres, emission etc. If you drive a lot, they will give you the amount of miles you will have to drop your car back in for.

Tyres are definitely something people forget to keep a proper check on. I notice really bald looking ones in the car park sometimes!
