The slots for the blog series “A Day in a Parenting Blogger’s Life” are filling up nicely. Thanks so much to all the bloggers who took part up to this point. If you are a parenting blogger and you would like to give your blog even a little boost, then why not get in touch with me and I will feature you, too.
Today I am talking to AK from the German Wife. It’s actually a funny one how we met. As you probably read previously I went to London to attend the Blogfest. I knew a good few bloggers going but they didn’t really know me. So just by pure chance AK met up with me in Costa across the road from my hotel I was staying. Only then I found out she was German too. What are the chances? Over to you AK.
First of all, tell me a bit about yourself.
Hy my Name is AK (short for Anne-Kathrin) I am 32, I am originally from Germany/Bavaria but have been living the UK for 11 years now. I am married to Mr. C. and we live with our Children, Finn (6) and Molly-May (nearly 3) in Buckinghamshire but we are currently looking for a house to buy to move to the coast!
How many times were you woken last night?
Once
Do you co-sleep?
Not anymore but my youngest shared a bed with me for 2 years.
What time do you normally wake up?
When the alarm rings (under the week that is 7.10am and on the weekends the kids mainly get up around 7.30/8am)
How much average sleep do you get a night?
Not enough!! Probably about 6-7hours
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Mostly cuddle with with a little human who sneaked into my bed!
Tell me about your typical morning routine.
Getting up, getting the kids and myself dressed and making them some breakfast and then heading out for the school/nursery run.
When and how often do you prepare the family dinners? Give us a few examples what you would cook.
I am absolutely rubbish and never really plan that much ahead unless I want to cook something in the slow cooker which will be turned on in the morning or I done a big Tesco shop and bought various meats to make meals otherwise its a 4pm job to look in the fridge what I could cook!
What’s on the menu for lunch?
I love Pasta with green Pesto and some parmesan so thats what I probably cook today.
What activities have you got planned for the day for the kids?
Its mostly homework straight after school and then I let them play with lego/dolls etc. before its dinner time.
Do you generally eat dinner together as a family or get the kids fed first?
With my husband being on nights most evenings we will have dinner together which is nice! I grew up in a large family with 3 other siblings and we always eat together!
What do you do after dinner?
Kids can go and snuggle up with Daddy on the couch whilst I clear up the table and get the PJ’s, Milk, Books etc. ready for bedtime!
What is your bedtime routine?
At 7pm we go upstairs (there mostly already have their PJ’s on by then, brush our teeth, wash their hands and faces. Finn is allowed to read a story/magazine in bed whilst I bring his little sister to bed which takes about 20 minutes until she falls asleep!
Most importantly, when and where do you normally blog in those 24 hours? Do you have a schedule?
I wish I had! I mainly blog on Monday & Thursday morning when Molly-May is in Nursery or in the evening although I get very easily distracted by Netflix!

I’d take you. I’ll send you an email. 🙂 x
I’m so jealous of how much sleep AK gets, and how quickly her daughter falls asleep! It’s not as calm in my house but mine are younger I guess. AK is beautiful! I’d love to take part in this series if you would have me?
It’s good to hear of other non-native mummies who are raising their kiddos in the UK!
Nice to find out more about people and their lives, I find it interesting to think about all these families pottering along in their little world!
