Happy December everyone. We have finally entered the last month of the year and not it is officially okay to talk about Christmas and listen to Christmas songs. Tomorrow the tree will go up while hubby is taking the kids to swimming. All the decorations have to come down from the attic. The fun. Featuring in my parenting blogger series to day is Jenna who blogs at Then There Were 3.
First of all, tell me a bit about yourself.
I’m a 28 year old mum of two from South West Wales. I am currently on maternity leave from my job working at an international airline after having my second daughter thirteen weeks ago.
How many times were you woken last night?
Three times, twice by my youngest and once by my eldest.
Do you co-sleep?
80% of the time I do, yes.
What time do you normally wake up?
Anytime between 5:30am and 8am. The only day we have an alarm set is for Tuesday when my eldest goes to nursery – then it is 6am.
How much average sleep do you get a night?
Not enough – I make the mistake of going to bed late and then being woken up early. Probably around 5 hours a night max.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Check the time and let my eldest come into bed with me for half an hour.
Tell me about your typical morning routine.
Once we are all awake we chill in bed for half an hour before heading downstairs for breakfast. Once that has been finished, we all get dressed and washed ready for the day.
When and how often do you prepare the family dinners? Give us a few examples what you would cook.
Every week night as my husband works away. This can range from casserole, pasta bakes, to something quick and easy such as fish fingers.
What’s on the menu for lunch?
This will depend on what we get up to – if it’s a day inside we tend to have a snacky lunch, so sandwiches, fruit etc. If we are out and about it’s usually a meal at soft play.
What activities have you got planned for the day for the kids?
My eldest loves the local soft play, so we tend to go at least once a week. Other activities include the local parks, castles, drawing and painting.
Do you generally eat dinner together as a family or get the kids fed first?
In the week I get my eldest fed first as I tend to eat quite late. On the weekend when my husband is home we do our best to all eat together.
What do you do after dinner?
Once dinner is done for the kids, it’s chill out for an hour then bathtime. Once the bath is done, it’s time for PJs and bed.
What is your bedtime routine?
Once the children are in bed I tend to eat my dinner in peace whilst catching up on a show on Netflix or the soaps. I tend to go up to bed around 9pm but don’t tend to drop off until around midnight.
Most importantly, when and where do you normally blog in those 24 hours? Do you have a schedule?
I have no schedule at all; I blog when I can. During the week I find it difficult to manage with two kids under three. I try and get as much done on a Tuesday when I only have my youngest. Once the weekend arrives I can get more done in the evening as my husband is able to attend to both of the girls.
