Next month we will be in our new house two years. It has definitely been the quickest two years. It’s been a while since I did a home tour post on the blog. The last one was our kitchen. A house is never finished they say and it’s definitely true. I wanted to show you Chloe’s bedroom for quite a while but there was just a few shelves missing on the wall and it didn’t look complete.
I probably have said this about every room in the house but Chloe’s room is definitely my favourite room, even though it is the smallest room in the house, well minus the playroom. There is just so much natural light coming into the room and the grey walls makes it look amazing. I just wish she would spend more time in it. Not just on a playing aspect but a sleeping aspect too as throughout half the night, she would walk into our bedroom.
I will link all items below this post so you know where I purchased them from, subject to availability. It was a great transition when Chloe moved from her cot bed into the junior bed (IKEA). The bed used to be Matthew’s but last year I decided it was time to get a proper bed and so I got him a single bed from the local furniture store. This means Chloe could take over his bed and it fits nicely into her room.
She absolutely adores cats and she loves Molly our most recent cat. She is very determined to feed her a treat every evening and let her in the house for a cuddle. That’s the reason why it made it pretty obvious to have a cat themed bedroom for her. Now obviously she is other bedding than the cat one but I just loved this one with all the different coloured cats on it. Additional to her pillow I added a cute little cat cushion from Sasse *& Belle. Along with her gazillion teddies on the side. She is a smart one because when I take one away, she actually notices which one is gone. I’m planning to put them in a basket though so she can choose which one goes to sleep with her.
Beside her bed I placed a bedside table which I picked up from a local furniture store, too. She has the most random stuff on it like books or Lego but the main items here are her Gro Clock and the cat nightlight. I actually looove the nightlight. I think it was batteries before but it has a mains connector and so we bought a plug to plug it into a spare socket.
At the end of her bed I added a little bedside table. It was a very cheap one from IKEA. It was just to mainly hold her doll house which she got from Santa last year. It was very difficult for her to play with it when it was sitting on the floor. We were pretty much laying on the floor to look in. It’s a lot better now. She doesn’t play with it as much as I thought she would but it’s very pretty in her room. She was complaining then that she couldn’t sit down while playing. So off mammy went, to IKEA again and picked up a cheap white chair.
I like the idea of a grey wall but I wanted the room to concentrate on one section of the room. I stuck a few gold and pink dots on one side of the wall. If you follow my blog for a while, you will know that I did the same kind of concept with Matthew’s bedroom. Dots give the room a fresh look I find. As well as that I put up two little shelves and a little shelf house. Right now the shelves hold her Paw Patrol books but the plan is to fill them with little ornaments. So if you spot anything cat related, leave me a comment below.
On the other end of the wall I created a little gallery of prints on the wall. Some of them I found online and printed them off and others I purchased.
In Chloe’s room there is a little gap in the wall. I am sure the purpose of it was to add an additional wardrobe maybe. And she did have that as we had a wardrobe from our old house. However it didn’t go with the room at all because everything is grey and the wardrobe was oak. So we sold it and I made it into a little reading corner. Chloe loves reading and she spends a lot of time in the corner picking her books. It fits the book shelf perfectly. The two little cushions give it a finishing touch.
