Dear Chloe,
it is that time of the year again. You are yet again one year older. What a fast year it has been. COVID is still around but we are all managing well and life is as much back to normal as it could possibly be. In fact, you will finally have your birthday party again this year with all you friends. This time we are going to have it in a farm. It will be great fun..
You completed junior infants with success. You really enjoy school and love to play with all your friends in the yard at break time. Your new teacher is just as lovely as the one you had the year before. Next week mammy and daddy are going to join the parent/ teacher meeting on the phone and I am sure the teacher will tell us only good things about you.. that is what we are hoping for, anyway. lol Homework you are mastering really well. We do need to improve the reading I believe, but we will get there eventually. At least we are back to school full time and home schooling is behind us almost a year.
Bedtime has improved so much since we established a new sleep routine with the help of a sleep doctor (we call her that so you understand what she does) Right now we are going to bed a bit later than usual but keeping bedtime to a minimum of thirty minutes. It is literally pyjamas, brush teeth and story. You are finally falling asleep in your own bed. The only downside right now, is that we have to check you every few minutes until you are asleep. But we all have to start somewhere. You are usually asleep by 10pm. We will pull back the bedtime again, once we have a proper routine in place but your brother is currently a bit scared in his room. Night time you could be up one to two times in general. You seem to sleep better when daddy puts you back into your bed. 🙂
Over the Summer, unfortunately we lost your favourite cat Milly. You missed her for a good few weeks. We decided to get a new kitten. Her name is Eevee (yes, your brother called her after a Pokemon) and she is all black. In a sense she is a lot like Milly but is still a bit scared when you come towards her. Even for mammy and daddy but we hope she will get over this soon and she becomes your new scarf.
During the Summer we didn’t manage to go abroad on our holiday again due to COVID. So for one last time we went on holidays in Ireland. This time it took us to County Cork and County Clare. You recently took a liking to swimming and so we booked a few sessions in each hotel’s swimming pool. Everyone really enjoyed it. It was a really hot Summer and so you were delighted to be wearing your shorts all the way through. We went to the zoo, to an island on a boat, you saw a group of seals, we went to the beach and we visited a miniature Cork train village. Everyone was having a great time. Thankfully this year, we are going abroad to Mallorca in Spain. I am really looking forward to be taking you there.
During your time at home, at the weekend or after creche, you like to go on your iPad for a bit and watch a show or movie on Netflix. Other times you enjoy doing arts and crafts, dress your baby, play with the cats or practice going around on your skateboard. You have definitely become more confident over the last year and you are having fun playing with your friends out in the estate.
Unfortunately you gave up on the tennis after a little while. We are trying to get you back into it as your friend from creche is also attending at the same time. I think the main problem we had that we couldn’t get you out of bed that early. However, with this new bedtime routine we have in place, this shouldn’t be an issue anymore. For your birthday you got a basketball stand and basketballs off mammy and daddy so we are hoping to get you into that sport too. I am looking at possibly enrolling you in gymnastics too as you like to stretch.
Clothing size at the moment is between 6 and 7. It really depends where mammy buys the clothes. A size 6 to 7 is too small really but a size 7 fits perfect and then a size 8 is too big but a size 7 to 8 is ok. I recently bought you two new pairs of Skechers. Your shoe size is 11 at the moment. Normally you go up one size every year.
Your eating habits have not changed. You like to snack when you come home from creche. You are trying your best eating the dinner with us at the weekend but you are pushing any vegetables to the side.
When we go on walks, you prefer using your scooter, rather than your bike. The bike you have is getting a bit small now as you are getting taller so we might get you a new one so we can all go on a family ride together. As your brother also very much enjoys riding his scooter than his bike.
The night before you turned seven, you lost your fourth tooth. Of course the tooth fairy arrived at night while you were asleep.
Here is for another fun year ahead as a seven year old.
We love you very much sugy. 🙂
