The festive season is truly upon us. Yesterday evening after I got home from a weekend in Belfast I got down the Christmas tree from the attic (which was a wrestle) and decorated it with the new baubles I got in Dunnes Stores the other day. This time I am going with a red/gold theme. We had red/silver for nine years. It was time to change. (I know, it’s not much a of change)
A tradition that has been going for centuries is the advent calendar. I mean you are never too old for an advent calendar. I have had one since I was a small child. The excitement each morning finding and opening the door is amazing for kids. This year we have four advent calendars. Matthew has a Transformers one, Chloe has a “The Snowman” one and me and hubby share the personalised Kinder chocolate advent calendar. There is also a PJ Masks one which was originally for Chloe but she much prefers the Snowman so that’s mine now.

Smarties Tower
Who doesn’t like Smarties? I don’t know if they still have it, but I spotted this one in Tesco. It’s very unique to any other rectangle shaped advent calendar. It’s also not just the ordinary Smarties boxes in it.
Haribo Sweets Calendar
Another of my favorites. Small little Haribo sweets in each window. An advent calendar with a twist and not chocolate for once.
Kinder Advent Calendar
I just love Kinder chocolate.
Swizzels Advent Calendar
Love hearts, refreshers, drumstick, you name it. One behind each window.
Gin Calendar
I am in love with gin right now. This is a drink I prefer on any night out now. Simply because in the morning you feel refreshed and don’t have a sore head.
Jelly Beans
I love a few jelly beans every now and again. The different flavours is just amazing.
Hotel Chocolate
I never came across hotel chocolate before until I saw a few bloggers who’s been to the shop. Then in Belfast out of nowhere the shop appeared and we had to pay it a visit. It’s a bit pricey but wow all the chocolate.
L’occitane calendar
This is a brand I never tried before. I am awful when it comes to beauty and cremes for your hands and face but this advent calendar will give you a bit of everything.
