When I don’t blog, travel or enjoy time with the kids, I love designing and decorating the house. We bought our house in October 2016. It’s mad to think that we are going to be in this house three years this year.
As well as from the inside, the house also has to look presentable from the outside. A clean and inviting porch is a must. My plan was to have a plant on each side of the front door. However, as we live in Ireland, it’s quite windy most of the time and so the plants always ended up getting blown over. I gave up at this stage. Instead I brightened up the front door with a colourful door mat recently.
One thing I definitely love the most about the house is the blue front door. I know it is such a random thing to like about a house isn’t it? When Red Candy got in touch to see if I was interested in picking one of their funky door mats, I jumped at the opportunity. We could do with a new one. Up until that point we had a boring “Welcome” mat from IKEA. It just didn’t look pretty anymore.
There were quite a few ones I liked on their website but the “hello there” was the best match. The yellow goes really well with the blue door. I must give it a shake every now and again to maintain the yellow colour.
The only thing I am missing now is a new hanging ornament for the door itself. Can you spot the big chunky hook? That is normally where my “Welcome” sign hangs but I want something different. If anyone knows of any nice ornaments for front doors, you are more than welcome to pop them in the comments below.
