Being a mum can be exhausting at times. You run around 24 hours pretty much to provide for your little ones. However it is also very important to take out some time away from motherhood. Between hubby and me we always divide the days in the week so one person can go off and do whatever they want. This applies to evening as well as a day at the weekend.
Have a Spa Treatment
Treat yourself to a massage. I could do with a massage nearly every day sitting in front of the PC eight hours a day four days a week. There are plenty of offers online. Either directly with the hotel or on a third party website like Groupon. Have a look at Groupon’s latest spa offers. I find Groupon never disappoints.
Go to the cinema
I actually do this every few months. Once the kids are in bed, I pick a movie around 8 or 9pm and enjoy munching on popcorn and having a bold coke and maybe some sweets or chocolate.
Go on a shopping spree
Why not treat yourself to some shopping. Us mums always need new clothes. When I go to the shops, I tend to pick up bits and pieces most of the time and I always go out empty. So try avoiding the kids section this time.
Have a coffee and a bun
A lovely cup of coffee or tea and a sweet treat in your local Costa, Starbucks or Insomnia. Pick up a book and spend an hour or two in the cafe. If you’re a blogger like me, then this will be also a nice change of scenery and some new blog post ideas might come into your head.
Go for a drink with your friends
It has become a habit now that hubby’s sister and me are going out for a bite to eat and something to drink after. We are trying to aim for it once a month but it doesn’t always work out as we both have busy lives. It’s nice and relaxing just to get out and talk.
Attend Bingo
When I was on holidays with my mum abroad, we used to love Bingo nights. I have been once in Ireland before and we had the best night. We haven’t managed to go again but I am trying to organise another night of this very soon. It’s such a good laugh.
Pick up a sport
Tennis, table tennis, football, gym, you name it. And on the plus side you gain exercise from it. I used to play table tennis but stopped then. One sport I would love to pick up on again is Swimming.
What do you like to do when you have some time to yourself?
