I want to capture this on my blog too as a keepsake for the future because it is very important to me. Some of you may or may not know that I lost my mum to cancer this time last year. I had written a post about it back then but I only started getting into the blogging then so most people I follow now haven’t read this one.
29th March 2014 I got the sad news that morning that she didn’t make it.
I actually never knew exactly when she was diagnosed with it because as a mother you don’t want to worry your children and keep it quiet as long as you can. I completely understand that, now that I am a mother myself.
The year has flown by so fast. You became a grandmother once again and I am sure you would have been delighted with the fact it is a girl this time. From the very beginning you always wished I had a girl. Probably so I can raise her just as good as you raised me. I will try my very best.
A few weeks ago I sat down and looked through all the photos I have taken with my mum and put them altogether as a collage. This frame I will hang in our bedroom so she is always with me.
And this is only some of the memories we have had in the last 8 years since I moved to Ireland. You always spoiled me rotten before that. We went on summer holidays every year since I was 5 years of age, I always got so many presents of you and grandparents even though I didn’t deserve them sometimes or at least not as many. I thank you for that.
Generally I am not a big fan of poems but I think this needs a lovely poem to bring my post to an end.
Dear Mum
You were always a great person
a great person indeed
You were always there
whenever I was in need
You raised me up
in a big, safe world
I’m glad I had the chance
to be your little girl
You always had a smile
on your beautiful, warm face
God did the right thing
by taking you to a good place
Even though I miss you
and we grow farther apart
I will always have a place for you
right here in my heart
